Cloud Computing and IoT Association in Taiwan (CIAT) held its general assembly today (December 8). At this assembly, the 2021 Cloud Internet of Things Innovation Award and the 9th Cloud Leopard Incubation Award were presented at the same time, and Emily Hong, Vice Chairman and CEO of Wiwynn, was invited to give a special speech "Ten Years in the Cloud". In the afternoon, we will hold "2021 Taiwan Cloud Internet of Things Forum -5G is actually a cloud", and invite international partners such as VMware, NVIDIA, Microsoft and three major domestic telecom operators to discuss the advantages of Taiwan’s next wave of information and communication, hoping to reach industry consensus and turn it into a concrete action plan in 2022.
Chih-Kung Lee, Chairman of CIAT, said that in response to the business opportunities of zero-distance contact in the wake of the pandemic and the rise of the concept of "metaverse", the association added two new SIGs (Special Interest Group) this year, the first is "XR Smart Space-time Application SIG". With the development of various terminal vehicles and the blessing of the characteristics of 5G with high bandwidth, low latency and large transmission, XR Reality Technology (AR, VR, MR) is gradually showing amazing innovative applications in various fields. However, due to the influence of COVID-19 pandemic, the rigid demands such as zero-distance contact business opportunities and long-distance collaborative applications spiked, which accelerates XR technology to a more practical application introduction stage. In addition, thanks to the global popularization trend of 5G, LEO satellites will be the stars of tomorrow complementary to 5G communication. Taiwan has the industrial energy to cope with LEO satellite signal solutions, which can provide components and systems for satellite manufacturing and corresponding ground receiving equipment, and have the opportunity to enter the international satellite supply chain. CIAT also specially set up the "Satellite Internet of Things SIG" to enter the "metaverse" from the cloud and go into space.
Emily Hong, Vice Chairman and CEO of Wiwynn, said in the special speech that Wiwynn has joined CIAT, which is composed of industry, government, research institutes, since the first year of cloud computing in Taiwan in 2010. In the past 10 years, it has pooled the efforts of all people and combined "cloud" and "terminal" to lay the foundation for the turnkey cloud services in Taiwan. In recent years, Wiwynn has transformed from server OEM to branding, focusing on high power efficiency, high transmission speed and heat dissipation solutions, with products with high reliability to meet the needs of future data centers. Wiwynn shared the secret of building a technology leading brand by actively participating in OCP (Open Compute Project), ONF(Open Network Foundation) and other international open architecture organizations, and actively participating in specification formulation, thus gaining the role of a key member in the market. Looking forward to 2022, with the development of science and technology, we will join hands with CIAT to promote terminal applications to update cloud infrastructure under the development of 5G.
This year, 9 units have won the Cloud Internet of Things Innovation Award. The units that won the Outstanding Application Award were the New Taipei City Fire Department, the Air Quality and Noise Control Division of the Environmental Protection Agency of the Executive Yuan and the Taichung Food and Drug Safety Division. This year, the company that won the system innovation award from Cloud Leopard incubation is "ioNetworks INC", a professional developer of image management software, which analyzes the driving state of vehicles and traffic lights through AI image recognition and data, supports third-party equipment, provides Open API integration and linkage with other data, and constructs a complete intelligent transportation solution. At the same time, "AIdea", which won the third place and the best popularity award, accumulated a lot of unique domestic industrial issues, industrial data and talents, provided a co-creation garden for gathering issue databases, data sets and talents, enlivened Taiwan AI applications and created industrial values.
