Aiming to give Taiwan an early edge in the smart robotics arena, the Cloud Computing & IoT Association in Taiwan (CIAT) officially launched the Humanoid Robotics Special Interest Group (SIG) on June 13, 2025.The inaugural meeting brought together leading experts and stakeholders across ICT, AI, mechanical engineering, cloud computing, and cybersecurity. Founding members include ITRI, SYSCOM, Chunghwa Telecom, FET, Quanta, Delta Electronics, Inventec, SECOM, Wiwynn, KINPO, Egis Technology, NEXCOM, TUTK, Accton, and Solomon. The SIG also partnered with Taiwan Automation Intelligence and Robotics Association (TAIROA), fostering a vibrant and fruitful discussion on industry development strategies and directions. This marks a pivotal step in building a globally competitive humanoid robotics ecosystem in Taiwan.

As one of the flagship technical forums held during COMPUTEX Taipei, the event drew a full house of attendees, including cloud and telecom operators, tech companies, and research institutions from the U.S., Japan, and Taiwan.

As the HaLow market continues to gain momentum, this year’s event saw an expanded lineup of participants from around the globe. Representatives from Japan’s AHPC and NTT East, as well as the U.S.- and Australia-based companies Newracom and Morse Micro, traveled to Taiwan for the forum.

Cloud Computing and IoT Association in Taiwan (CIAT) currently has more than 180 member companies jointly creating the most complete industry chain in information and communication technologies. Member companies include Nonprofit R&D Organization, industry leaders in telecommunications, major hardware manufacturers and software developers as well as vendors in systems integration and services. Since establishment, CIAT has facilitated the Taiwan Data Center's structural transition as it pivots from hardware to systems solutions and software services, solidifying the industry's cloud system platform, which integrates high-level hardware and software. CIAT has thus enabled Taiwan to become the bedrock of innovation in cloud computing technology as well as leading the domestic cloud computing industry to the international stage. A very long industry chain is the unique facet of the development from IoT to cloud computing. In response to the needs of members, CIAT established Special Interest Groups (SIG) to focus on IoT security, Artificial Intelligence (AI) , XR (Extended Reality) Digital Twins, LEO-based Satellite IoT, Beyond 5G IoT Application, Humanoid Robotics and Cloud Valley Incubation. The SIGs consolidate multi-faceted industry needs, such as relevant government policies, business models, and technological development, to arrive at specific policy proposals or joint development project proposals, while functioning as an important platform to study the industrialization of technology between legal entities and their industries. In short, CIAT focuses on the industrialization of technology and the promotion of systems and services based on a user-oriented approach, to stay ahead of the competition and redefine the cloud IoT industry chain in Taiwan.
